Tanya Platt'S PROFILE
|I am fitness model who was born and raised just outside Toronto and I'm very proud to be Canadian.
I've always had a strong desire to expand my horizons and explore this amazing planet we live on. Travel is therefore a big part of my life and will forever be a passion of mine.
In my early twenties I set off on a 14 year adventure residing in 5 different countries. I explored 112 countries through extended back-packing journeys that totalled close to 5 years.
The stamina that has always carried me through in my quest to see more of this amazing planet is my second passion....my health & fitness. We get back from life what we put in & taking care of my body is of utmost importance. My years of wandering the globe exploring different cultures and meeting/making the most wonderful life-long friends has enriched my life.
I was drawn to healthy living, the outdoors and fitness from a young age. Always a tom-boy at heart, I was fortunate to have grown up in a rural area. I was always an outdoor enthusiast, along with being an avid animal lover. Athletics always played a big role in my life. As an accomplised track and field runner, training and competition kept me active along with skiing, swimming and a host of team sports.
I attended the University of Western, Ontario and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. I then obtained my Graduate Diploma of Education from Sydney university in Australia.
My career path has been multi-faceted. I taught in the classroom for a couple of years, then trained to work with kids with special needs. Whilst living in London, England, I then moved into the whole advertising sales arena and progressively moved up the ranks ending up in the field of project development. I then decided to return to Canada and landed an exciting role as an educational consultant for a private company. We advise schools in how to better their overall provincial results, working hand and hand with them over the course of several years in order to see growth/progression.
It was upon my return to Canada that I decided to take my fitness up a notch. With focused weight training and nutritional discipline my body developed more tone and gained overall strength.
Fitness competitions became the next challenge and I put myself to the test with a host of different organisations over a short period of time. I enjoyed the competitive spirit but found the most gratification came from hitting my own personal targets & goals.
My ultimate fitness goal is to inspire others to lead a healthy, balanced lifestyle. Our world has become highly processed and we've moved away from nutritious whole foods to those packed with sodium, sugar and saturated fat. People need to take control of their health & fitness and get back to raw foods that provide vitamins & nutrients to fuel their bodies.
A healthy body overall will help to fuel a healthy mind & spirit - this balance in both mind, body & spirit will enrich all aspects of one's life.
Fitness has quite literally caught my heart & soul - I like to think the energy & passion I put into the sport is reflective of this.
