About Me
| My Transformation Story
A lot of people believe that good things come to those who wait. Well I used to be one of those people but lately my philosophy has changed. At 5’8â€, 178lbs and 39% body fat I knew I couldn’t wait around any longer for good things to come to me. I needed to go out there and make them happen. As an actress and singer I knew I needed to make some major lifestyle changes if I was going to be successful in the industry. Five years ago I left my performing arts training behind and started working in bars. It didn’t take me long to fall into the pattern of sleeping all day, drinking after work every night, bingeing on fast food and chocolate and basically letting myself go. Everyone knew me as a party girl but the longer I kept living this way the more I began to realize that the party was over. I had become self-destructive and I knew that this was not how I wanted to spend the rest of my life. It was time to take control and actually start living it. I began my journey in December 2009. I set a goal for myself that at the time seemed unattainable but I was determined to make it happen. I wanted to be a fitness model and I had 16 weeks standing between me and my first competition. I knew it wasn’t going to be easy but I was ready for the challenge. I began training 3-4 times a week with Andrew Judson and putting in hours of cardio. Aside from being a personal trainer he is also a nutritionist and gave me a diet to follow. The workouts were hard and the diet seemed severe but once I started to get used to it I actually started to enjoy it. From day one I knew that I had to quit drinking and so I did what I had to do. Not only do I bartend but I also live above a bar so that in itself was a huge accomplishment for me. As each week went by I was seeing more results and feeling better than I had in years. What could possibly go wrong? Seven weeks in I had a bomb dropped on me. Actually it wasn’t a bomb...it was a CO2 tank(from a keg at work) and it landed on my foot. As soon as it hit I knew. After sitting in the emergency room for hours in extreme pain I was told that the tip of my big toe was crushed. I would need to stay off of it for at least 3 weeks, wear an aircast to prevent the fragments from displacing and that it would take 6 weeks to fully heal. Basically my journey was over. I was devastated and depressed...but only for one day. In the past few weeks my body wasn’t the only thing that had changed. I was becoming a better person on the inside too. I was stronger, more motivated and more positive than I had ever been in my life. My journey definitely wasn’t going to end here. I wasn’t going to let it. I stayed off my foot for almost two weeks, kept eating clean and then I did what I had to do. I went back to the gym, trained any muscle group that wouldn’t affect my injury and I got on the bike for cardio... air cast and all. When I went back to see the doctors 3 weeks later they said it was still healing and that I would need to keep wearing the cast and staying off of it. I told them that I would be wear running shoes and training harder than before. My journey may not have been an easy one but I did what I set out to do. After 16 weeks of intense training, dieting, sobriety and emotional roller coasters I had achieved exactly what I wanted to. When I stepped out onto the runway at my first show I weighed 130lbs and had 15% body fat. Even more than that I had confidence, self-respect and I knew that this was the start of a brand new life for me. I believe that if I could do it anyone can. i am living proof that if you work hard, are willing to make sacrifices and you have the strength to keep going no matter what happens along the way...then the sky isn’t the limit. I don’t think there is one. And when you discover that for yourself there’s nothing that can stop you. |
